Just love it Posted: 01 September 2010
Flip Video Mino Digital Camcorder - Black (2GB)
Really useful tool to create videos and catch photos... one hour video time is enough but for conferences or events and download time is a bit long.
Great even during the night and at gigs.
Anyway I love it, it's easy, very light, funny: buy it!
Fun to use Posted: 27 August 2010
Easy to use and fun to take clips when things just happen! Still unsure how to replay on tv - any ideas?
mino and mino HD compared Posted: 24 August 2010
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R11K7UQ1G2AON9 I have a mino HD, which I've already reviewed, and I had the opportunity to compare it to the standard mino.
Unfortunately I've had to compress the video to upload to Amazon so the quality has suffered a little but it does show some of the differences. Both have excellent low light performance, so ideal for parties etc.
The mino and mino HD look virtually identical, just a discreet "HD" on the mino HD.
Operation is identical although you can zoom the mino before pressing the record button, the mino HD only zooms during recording. The TV out on the mino also works well, it's poor on the mino HD.
As you can see the mino picture format is 4:3, 640 x 480 pixels (VGA) and the raw camcorder output is a .avi file. 15 seconds of video from the mino is approx. 8.41MB
The mino HD picture format is widescreen, 1280 x 720 pixels, and raw format is .mp4. 15 seconds of video from the mino HD is approx. 19.4MB
Most laptops will play a .avi file, I've found that not everyone can play a .mp4 file (I can't upload them to Amazon for example, hence the conversion!)
Flipshare software is on the camcorder, plug it in to a Windows machine and it will install it and also update if you are connected to the internet. Very simple and easy to use; easy to edit and produce a video, it even comes with music.
Unfortunately the Flipshare program converts the videos all to .mp4 format; the latest update also exports as .mp4 (previously it exported as .wmv files which are more universal)
You can upload to Youtube etc.
These are brilliant little camcorders, easy to carry and use, and surprisingly good results, either is unlikely to disappoint.

I have used this product for about a month now and have found it excellent for what it says it does and for my needs.I am a pensioner who is quite computer literate but not a fan of some of the hi-tec gadgets available. I use a mobile phone as the name suggests, as a phone and do not have a camera phone. I have a digital camera for still photos and did not wish to invest in a high cost cam-corder.The flip allows me to take excellent video footage for family clips to share with friends and family around the world. It is excellent in low light situations although I am sure not a s good as a higher priced cam-corder.The software is good and enabled me easily to stitch clips into a movie and copy to DVD and into facebook. It is easy to watch clips over a T.V although the higher priced HD version may give better definition. It now fits alongside my dogital camera in my camera case for use when needed.
